Julian and Pedro

By Rick Guidotti

Julian, left, is as cool as the ice cream he loves and would happily talk about all day. His brother, Pedro, is very technical and likes robots, Legos, and anything that transforms. Rick photographed them for the #whatsyourthing campaign for PRISMA (Precision Medicine in Autism), which works with individuals with a diagnosis of autism or neurodevelopmental conditions at Bradley Hospital. PRISMA launched #whatsyourthing to honor and celebrate each person’s uniqueness and learn about their specific interests and passions. The campaign documents children and adolescents with autism and the “things” that inspire them. Rick has been changing societal attitudes toward individuals living with genetic, physical, behavioral, or intellectual difference through his project “Positive Exposure” for more than 20 years.
