When did you decide to become a doctor?
I remember doing a history project [in high school]on our public health system, and decided at that point that I wanted to be a doctor. I realized that I wanted to combine my interest in science with my desire to help people during the most vulnerable times in their lives.
How did you choose your specialty?
I came in to medical school wanting to pursue pediatrics, but took a liking to pregnancy management and being in the operating room. Through this field I will be able to continue to work with underserved populations both within the US and globally. Women are definitely an interesting population with unique needs, and I am very excited to experience the challenges and rewards of working with women.
