Jacquelyn Silvia ’10 MD’15 and Jerry Nnanabu MD’15
Where did you Match?
Both: University of Chicago!
Where are you from?
Jacquelyn: I’m from Massuchusetts.
Jerry: I’m from Seattle.
Jacquelyn: We’ve been dating three years, this year. I was a PLME.
Jerry: I went to Princeton. I was brought to Brown because it’s a great school. My undergrad was in ecology and evolutionary biology.
Jacquelyn: Mine was community health.
What’s your specialty?
Jacquelyn: Pediatrics
Jerry: I’m internal medicine and hopefully cardiology in the future.
What made you want to do pediatrics?
Jacquelyn: I’ve wanted to do pediatrics since I was young girl. I just really connect well with children.
What brought you to Brown?
Jacquelyn: The PLME program. Since I was 7 I knew I wanted to be a doctor. And I found out about the program and I applied. I knew Brown was a great school and that I would get a great education. I felt like I could really enjoy what I wanted to do outside of medicine.
Are you parents here today?
Jacquelyn: Yeah, my dad’s here. He’s been a very big influence. My dad’s actually why I was interested in medicine. He was a garbage man and got into an accident and had to have his leg amputated. So I went with him to all of the doctor appointments. I grew up in the projects and that’s where I saw a lot of sick kids and that’s what made me want to work with kids.
