Professor named to federal HIV treatment guidelines panel

Rami Kantor, MD, an associate professor of medicine at Alpert Medical School and the director of the HIV Drug Resistance Laboratory at The Miriam Hospital, was appointed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents, part of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council.

The appointment gives him the opportunity to help his medical colleagues better manage the care of their patients with HIV/AIDS. Addressing the many issues related to drug resistance and the development of new treatments, Kantor says, “will allow me to make a strong impact on HIV care in the U.S. and beyond.”
