East Meets West

In August a pedestrian bridge over the Providence River, just steps away from the Medical School, opened to much fanfare. It was instantly popular with students, faculty, and staff for its seating areas, chess boards, and easy access to the East Side.

  Organized by the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), in collaboration with the Office of Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OBEDI) and the Latino Medical Students Association (LMSA), On The Horizon welcomed pre-medical students from colleges across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.At this event, underrepresented undergraduate students were equipped with invaluable knowledge about navigating the medical school application process. From MCAT preparation and financial considerations to admissions strategies and self-care practices, they gained firsthand insights from recent peers who successfully embarked on this journey.The highlight of the event was a keynote address delivered by Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, Associate Professor Carla Moreira.
