Fellowship Alum Takes PLME Role

Infectious diseases doc will work with underrepresented students.

The Program in Liberal Medical Education has a new assistant dean for first-generation and underrepresented in medicine students (FURM): Sabina Holland F’16, MD. She will oversee the PLME-FURM student group, provide leadership and mentorship, and coordinate integration of PLMEs within Warren Alpert Medical School opportunities. She’ll also provide insight and expertise on the recruitment and retention of PLME-FURM students.

Holland is the medical director of the Pediatric HIV Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics, clinician educator. She is the diversity officer for the Department of Pediatrics and the associate director of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Hasbro.

A graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, Holland received her MD from Louisiana State University Health Science Center at Shreveport School of Medicine. She did her residency in pediatrics at the University of Florida and came to Brown for a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases.
